Maurice Grun was born in R\u00e9val (now Tallinn, Estonia) in 1870 and died in Saint-Cloud in 1947. A Russian painter, he became a French citizen in 1910. He studied under Jules Lefebvre, Benjamin Constant, and Tony Robert Fleury at the Acad\u00e9mie Julian in Paris from 1890 to 1893. He traveled to the United States and Brazil, where he taught at the newly founded Escola de Belas Artes in Salvador de Bahia. Upon returning to France, he stayed in Paris but also visited Concarneau on several occasions, where he painted this view. He exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Fran\u00e7ais, where in 1911 he received a third-class medal. &nbsp;"}
